Model picture
Lock not working – choose the symptom
Classic is the previous V2N name. Look for Classic or V2N on the outside device. This is not V1 or V2.
User guide
Use the combined manual below for locking, unlocking, user codes and key chips. If the lock is integrated, the settings are managed in the associated app. Yale Home requires Yale Access Module on Classic.

Use four alkaline AA batteries. Switch all at the same time; do not use rechargeable.
- Unscrew the battery cover on the inside of the door.
- Replace the batteries one at a time following the holder markings.
- Listen to the startup message and refit the cover.
Installation guide
Follow the drawings, parts and assembly order of the original manual. Check the function with open door before closing it.

If multiple errors are encoded: wait three minutes. Check the time limit of access and battery warning. If the lock is open but not closed, the door and the end piece must be checked. Use the model function test in Yale help.
Yale Classic/V2N: debugging, function tests and module videosMounting with original drawings
Start at top and check that the parts match your lock. This is a guide through the original manual; goals, racing and variant selection are in the drawings. Perform the function test before the lock is applied.
1. Prepare the door
Check the door, existing holes and end piece to the targets before you dismantle the old lock.
2. Choose the right direction of battle
Compare the hinge side to the drawing. Set the lock box for the right or left door before mounting.
3. Mount the lock box
Attach the cable to the contact, before the lock box enters and bring the cable through the inside of the door. Keep the protective tip in the connector. The cable should not be clamped.
4. Monter utvendig skilt
Follow the figures for cable, screws and positioning. Check that the sign is right against the door.
5. Customize Bringer and Interior Signs
Check the lengths of the drawing before any racing. For short carries can prevent emergency opening.
6. Fest innvendig enhet
Follow the cable position in the figure. Do not hug the wires between signs and doors.
7. Test mechanical locking and emergency opening
Start with open door and without batteries, as described by the manual. The figure shows the blockage, chiner, button twists and the end piece. Go through all the test points on the page before closing the door.
Help when the product does not work
Choose the symptom and check the model scope before following the steps. This is troubleshooting, not a list of confirmed product defects.
Yale Classic / V2N: locks with door open but not closed
Applies to: For a powered lock that will not complete locking. Keep the door open during the test.
- Use the original drawing to identify the trigger bolt. Press and hold it throughout the described lock test.
- Lock using the inside thumbturn as specified in the model test. Check that the handle does not retract the locked hook bolt.
- Unlock again and retract the hook bolt with the handle before releasing the trigger bolt. Follow the order in the model’s original test.
- If the test works with the door open but not closed, the door gap and strike need checking. Ask an installer to adjust if the door requires force.
Check the result: The lock can lock and unlock without pushing or lifting the door.
Stop and get help: If the open-door test fails, have the lock checked before further use. State which part of the test failed.

Yale Classic / V2N: dead batteries – open using 9 V
Applies to: For Yale Doorman Classic / V2N. You need a 9 V battery and a valid code or key tag.
- Locate the emergency power contacts underneath the outside lock unit. See label F in the original drawing below.
- Hold the 9 V battery terminals against the two contacts as shown in the original drawing. The battery supplies temporary power while you operate the lock.
- Use your normal valid code or key tag and unlock. Emergency power does not grant access without authorised identification.
- Once inside, replace the internal batteries following the model guide and check locking/unlocking with the door open before normal use.
Check the result: The lock responds to emergency power and opens with valid access.
Stop and get help: If there is still no response or a mechanical obstruction, contact service/a locksmith. Do not use force or a factory reset as emergency opening.

Yale Classic/V2N: restart the lock from outside
Applies to: For a Classic/V2N that does not respond normally. This is a restart, not deletion of codes.
- If the batteries are dead, follow the emergency power guide first. Restarting does not replace power.
- Locate the small restart button between the emergency power contacts underneath the outside unit, labelled A in the drawing.
- Press the exterior restart button as described by Yale. Do not substitute the P/programming button under the battery cover.
- When the lock responds again, try normal unlocking with valid access. Yale states that codes, tags and remotes are retained by this restart.
Check the result: The lock responds normally and existing access works.
Stop and get help: If the lock still does not respond, contact service. The original manual does not specify a hold duration; do not improvise a long reset sequence.
