Personal alarms for older adults and family

Help the user feel confident

  1. Agree with the user and family who receives alarms and provides assistance.
  2. Choose a wearing style the user can and will use. Practise finding the button.
  3. Practise an agreed test alarm with the receiver. Check speech in both directions.
  4. Agree a charging routine and an alternative while charging. Tailor reminders to the user.
  5. For accidental activation, tell the receiver. Without a response, use the agreed alternative way to get help.

Fall detection cannot guarantee every fall is detected. Never test by making someone fall. Agree the supplier’s safe test method and correct wearing style. Indoor location may be inaccurate.
