Smoke detector beeps or flashes

Start here for a technical fault without ongoing danger. Tick each check as you complete it.

Follow these steps

Is there smoke, heat, a smell of fire or a persistent alarm signal? Treat it as possible fire, move to safety and call 110 for fire.
For short repeated beeps without signs of fire, check whether the app or panel reports low battery, fault, cleaning or tamper. Beeping alone does not identify the cause.
Find the model number in the device list, documentation or on an accessible label. Do not remove the detector just to try an arbitrary procedure.
Open the model's guide in the catalogue. Check its battery variant and post-maintenance test. Contact service if the model manual is missing.

The cause is resolved, the detector is correctly fitted and the required test has been completed under the agreed alarm-reporting procedure.
